3 out of 5 stars Prince vs Browning : short summary   August 11, 2010

I bought two rackets from Racketworld on Amazon, the "Browning Platinum Nano 150 Squash Racket" for £20 reduced from £145 and the "Prince Thunder Ultralite Squash Racket" for £40 reduced from £120.

Racketworld delivered quickly, well packaged. But the additional charge of £10 seems to represent more additional profitability than than packaging. Wach out for this when you think of total cost when buying from Racketworld.

The Prince looks cool (colors are bright and the convergins string angles look modern) and feels like a fly swat on a swing. Really light. I could see it selling for £120 and feel that it is good value for £40. The sweet spot is large and after playing for an hour it does not feel heavy. That said, when returning a hard shot, you get no help from the racket - there is nothing there that you do not provide yourself.

The Browning looks more traditional (colors are understated and the are at right angles to each other) and feels like an axe when swinging it. Heavy. I would not expect it to sell for £145 but it is good value for £20 - that said remember that with Racketworld you are paying an additional £10 for P&P. The sweet spot is large but after playing for an hour it feels heavy, although i guess i'll get used to this. The weight of the racket does help me make my swing more smooth.

Finally, the Prince has much more teenager appeal. On joint testing with my daughter, it did not take long to establish that i would be spending most of the time using the Browning!
